Rules for 6th GradeBergen Travel Basketball League Rules
Division: Sixth (6th Grade)
BTBL will adhere to High School Basketball Rules with the following exceptions:
Basketball Size = Men’s Regulation (29.5") for Boys; Woman’s Regulation for Girls Time = 8 minute quarters; 3 minute Overtime; No running time Roster Size = 15 Maximum Playing Time = no mandated playing time Fouls – Regular = 5 and out Technical = 2 and out Fighting and/or use of profanity – see general rules Bonus = HS Rules = 2 shots upon the 5th and over foul within each quarter Fouling out = upon 5th individual foul including technical fouls 3 point shot = Yes, where applicable.
No defense allowed in backcourt when no pressing is allowed. After second warning of defense in backcourt a technical foul may result if in the Refs discretion the backcourt defense was intentional.
Full court press = Boys – All flights other than Army, Navy and Air Force - Final two (2) minutes of 2nd and final four (4) minutes of 4th quarter and all overtime. Girls - Final two (2) minutes of 2nd and final three (3) minutes of 4th quarter and all overtime. Boys Army –may press the entire game within the parameters of the Mercy Rule. Navy/Air Force may press the entire 2nd and 4th quarters within the parameters of the Mercy Rule.
Mercy Rule = no full court press by winning team if up by 10 points (15 points for Boys Army/Navy/Air Force Divisions). No full court press by the losing team in the last three minutes of the game if they are down by the press limit +5 points.
Time Outs = 4 full one minute , no 30 second time outs Overtime = 3 minutes; repeat as necessary. No Ties. Unused time outs will carry over + 1 per OT period. Coaches on Bench - Only one coach can stand. Only the head coach can call time out. Only the head coach can address the officials. Playoffs = Top 4 teams.
